Aim: We are raising funds for a new furniture and equipment so that our players, from as young as 4, and their families can enjoy our facilities.

Who are we?

Alveley Cricket Club was established in 1908 and sits at the heart of the local community. Our aim is to provide inclusive opportunities in cricket for all.

With no paid staff, all of work is delivered through our fantastic team of volunteers some of whom started out with us from a young age and are now playing an active part in developing our future stars. We rely on social events, charitable donations and income from our club house to fund our club, including holiday clubs and coaching sessions.

We run a variety of cricket sessions to suit all abilities, age and groups:

  • ECB All Stars cricket programme for 4-8 year olds.
  • 9-16 junior training, matches and holiday clubs
  • Senior sides that play Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesdays.
  • Ground breaking Womens softball sessions and matches.  We also have a history of our adult teams having a number of female players, last year one represented England U19's in the World Cup.

Community impact

We truly believe that the club provides a format for anyone to play and enjoy cricket.

The club are currently in the Worcestershire County Cricket League.

Currently we are trying to raise funds to purchase furniture for outside seating and equipment including sight screens and replacement net for our cricket cage.  Providing a comfortable sociable space for parents and visitors and giving players an excellent facilities to develop their skills and enjoyment of the game.  All funds raised will improve facilities for juniors, Adults, Women, spectators and all stakeholders within the club and community.

Our ground: We moved to Four Oaks in 2019, funded through grants and our own fundrasing.  The impact this has had on the community has been pheonomicinal.  In 2022 we were awarded Shropshire All Stars Club of the Year by Shropshire Cricket Board. Our facilities are available for the whole community to use and enjoy, from children's parties, community events or for schools its available for all.

It is time for the club to reach out and seek some of our own funding. We are starting our journey way behind other clubs and our ambitious plans require us to be able to both pay our own way but maintain our great relationship with the community.

Why are we crowdfunding?

1678142749_330360829_1362101511218966_7175942320885550631_n.jpgIn In 2022 we started the final part of the work to install a pitched roof on the Pavilion, extend changing rooms and create an outdoor social area, this work is due to be completed in March 2023 (funded through Sport England).

To complete the project we are crowdfunding to purchase furniture for the Pavilion enabling us to create a welcoming environment for families, we also urgently needed replacement sight screens.  The sight screens are approximately 40 years old, as you can see from the photos they are well past their best.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We have already raised £450,000 for this project - but we need to raise additional funding to really make a difference to the space, so that it can be used by the whole community.

The estimated cost of this project is £10,000

WE WILL WORK TO MAKE THE BEST SPACE WE CAN WITH THE FUNDING WE RAISE - THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO RAISE MONEY FOR THIS SPACE BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS - PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY IF YOU CAN!

Extra Funding:  Any extra funding will go towards growing our club, in particular new ground equipment to help us manage and maintain our wonderful facilities.

How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022?

This project will create a local legacy to celebrate the Commonwealth Games, by providing all members of the community with access to sport whatever their age or background.  Improving health and wellbeing, bring people together and be a catalyst for change within the community.
