Already successful gardener looking to expand.

Aim

The aim of this project is to provide a quality, profitable and well known gardening service in my local area.

 Hayes Gardening Services is a small, local garden maintenance service providing a full range of garden improvements in Bexhill and Hastings. Currently working as a part time self-employed gardener, in three months I have hit the milestone of 20 customers. But my current circumstances aren’t allowing me to further expand. I am good at what I do and it gives me a true sense of fulfilment. 

The main reasons I would like to start up my own business are to earn a rewarding income, to provide a quality service in my community and also to make my father proud as he is a gardener himself. 

I hope to achieve an efficient and fruitful business. I have the basic building blocks secure, but I believe that with the right assistance I can start up and maintain a successful small gardening business that isn’t too overwhelming but well balanced, and one that turns out to be an excellent direction to have taken my career in. 

At present I provide the following services.                                                 

• Grass cutting & Lawn care (moss removal, re edging and spot weeding) 

• Hedge cutting  

• Small Tree Pruning & Felling 

• Ground clearance and Leaf collections 

• Planting 

• Weeding  

• Pruning

• Turfing and Lawn Seeding  

• A majority of my customers allow me to use their tools, as I currently only have a small set of hand tools. This is far from ideal but they are all happy for me to continue working for them until I’m established. On top of this, a few of them have already mentioned that they are more than happy to pay an enhanced hourly rate, once I have a vehicle and my own set of tools. I currently cycle from customer to customer which significantly reduces the amount of tools I can carry and also how much time I have available to work in a day.
  
  With the right financial assistance, I could provide all of the above services but with my own tools, therefore being able to charge a higher rate. For example, several of the properties where I carry out regular garden maintenance require jet washing, painting, large tree and hedge maintenance, waste removal, driveway repairs and leaf blowing/collection. This would provide a lot more work during the dreaded winter season, and open up a lot more earning potential all year round.
  
  So to summarise, any financial assistance provided would be spent on learning to drive, acquiring a vehicle and a full set of tools.
