Allithwaite Bowling Club requires reliable, affordable, and user-friendly equipment to help maintain its green, especially by older members. The green is essential to the club’s operations, and without proper maintenance tools, a key community activity would be at risk.
Our project aim therefore is:
To secure funding for the purchase of modern, efficient, and user-friendly maintenance equipment for our bowling green. This is essential to support the ongoing upkeep of our green, sustain our operations, and enhance the well-being of our members and the wider community.
Why It Matters:
The Green Is Our Core: The bowling green is the heart of Allithwaite Bowling Club. Without it, our club—and a key local community resource—cannot function.
Aging Equipment: Our current machinery is 20–30 years old, obsolete, and increasingly expensive to mai
ntai
Volunteer Maintenance: The green is entirely maintained by our members, most of whom are in their 70s. Heavy, outdated equipment limits their ability to help.
Financial Challenges: COVID-19, accidental damage to the green, and necessary professional repairs have severely depleted our finances over the last five years.
Community Benefits:
Health & Well-being: Bowling promotes moderate physical activity, mental stimulation, and social connection—vital for older adults and those less physically active.
Inclusive & Accessible: The club supports people of all ages and backgrounds. We host league matches, social events, and welcome visitors from the wider area.
Sustainability: New equipment will reduce long-term costs, allow more members to participate in maintenance, and ensure the
club's future.
Funding Status:
We’ve received conditional support from Sport England. ‘Sport England sees the value of our project and has pledged £5,816 if we can raise the other £5,816 through 25 unique supporters through this crowdfunder’.
Only with your help, we can secure the full funding needed to move forward.
