Your support makes a difference
We aim to provide access to our woodland play setting by offerring families in need: Free outdoor clothing and gear; Free sessions; Support
Friends of Nature CIC is a family run Forest School that provides woodland stay and play for young children and their families. We are 6 years old, and have always been focused on building a community that is inclusive and welcoming for all. With young children of our own, we recognise the importance of outdoor play and connection with nature, and are strong advocates of equalising outdoor opportunities for all.
We want to make nature accessible to every child and family.
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play outdoors, explore in nature, get muddy, learn new and practical skills and simply enjoy being a child in the wonderful outdoors - regardless of their family’s circumstances.
But for some families, accessing outdoor activities isn't always easy. The cost of sessions and activities, and outdoor clothing and gear can be a huge access barrier for families already facing financial pressures. There are also parents who struggle with their mental health, and feel they have nowhere to go, and lack a supportive network and environment. We want to change that.
Through this project, we will provide families who need support with access to our woodland play setting, and getting outdoors in general through:
Free outdoor clothing and equipment, helping children stay warm, dry and comfortable all year round;
Free woodland sessions, allowing children and their families the opportunity to play, explore, learn and connect with nature without worrying about the cost;
Free woodland sessions for new parents (with babies under 1 year old), to come and sit, have a brew, talk to other grown ups, and embrace the outdoors;
Practical support and a welcoming community in a safe, inclusive space where families can spend meaningful time together, build confidence and feel connected, as well as socialise with other families.
Our woodland is more than a place to play. It is a place where children can take safe risks, develop independence, learn practical skills, build relationships and discover their strengths and abilities. With your support, we can remove these barriers and open the woodland to more families, and continue to build a supportive network of outdoor loving families.
Every donation, big or small, will contribute to more children and families experiencing the freedom, joy and benefits of outdoor play in the sun, wind, rain and snow, and breaking the barriers that exist, as well as ensuring new parents and young families are well supported.
