Aim
Our swimming pool needs an urgent upgrade. We are half way through - please help us fund the rest so this vital facility is ready for 2026!
We are a Parent Teacher Association where parents and teachers work together to improve the school experience for our children. We provide for the school items that are not provided by the Local Authority due to the funding set which includes the school's outdoor swimming pool.
Our pool was hand dug by parents and teachers in the 1970s and has been a vital facility for all these years. It is open from May to the end of September and provides weekly swimming lessons for the children with an after-school Pool Club for the children's families. We have our swimming Regattas at the pool as well as one of our biggest PTA fundraisers, the school triathlon. The Holiday Club use the pool as well as a few other external users.
The pool now needs considerable expenditure to upgrade it and make it viable for the next generation of swimmers.
We raise money from a range of events such as fayres, discos, egg hunts, non uniform days, a circus, triathlon, second hand uniform, cake sales and more.
We have managed to fund and complete Stage 1 of the upgrade which includes a new roof to the changing rooms, a new boiler and wiring the school fire alarm system to the pool area.
We now need as much help as possible to complete the final part of the upgrade, Stage 2. This includes a new pool cover, to re-mosaic the pool floor in four areas, rebuild the skimmer pathways, lay new paving and provide a new equipment shed.
We are continuing to fundraise at school and have reached out to local businesses and other funding bodies. We hope many of you will have good memories of your children learning to swim here assuring you that every penny raised here will contribute to us continuing to offer this vital resource for many years to come.
