We aim to provide a fun friendly and safe environment for young people to flourish and express themselves, learn new skills and make friends
We are a Morris Dancing Group based in the Breightmet area of Bolton. Our project is aimed at Children aged between 5-18 years old. Our project will give them access to and experience of Morris Dancing Competitions throughout the Northwest. Through this we will develop skills of the children and the volunteers, increase self-esteem, confidence, health, and fitness and give them the opportunity to socialise and meet new people. The pandemic has hit us hard, and the children have been unable to compete for the two years that pandemic was around.

We impact the community in the following ways:

• Our projects aim is to restore the level of attendance and community support we delivered prior to the pandemic. • Our local community has been severely affected and continues to be so with the rise in the cost-of-living expense. We aim to provide an affordable outlet for children and parents to engage with the community and provide rich and rewarding experiences for all involved. • As the cost-of-living crisis is becoming all too apparent, we are more than ever committed to delivering activities to children in our local community at the same pre-pandemic level. This is to enable families to provide for their children an opportunity to engage in physical activity, learn new skills and develop and enhance friendships outside of school. • The group is based in Breightmet in Bolton and though there are many football clubs there is a definite lack of provision for girls. Ajays Morris Dancers attempts to redress this imbalance and involves girls from the ages of 3 to open age. • We aim to showcase the achievements the children have made at our annual competition. For children who have had to endure two years of restrictions it is essential for their development to express themselves and perform and attempt to redress any damage caused by unfortunate circumstances that the pandemic inflicted. • The group is not only beneficial to the children involved but to parents, volunteers and the whole community. The children perform at care homes whose residents can feel incredibly isolated and community events and bring so much joy to the people watching. The group brings a cohesion to the community that brings people together strengthens sense of identity in the local area.

The young people are always in need of uniform for competitions. The current cost of living and energy crisis is making life very hard for a lot of people and any additional costs to households are just avoided to pay for essential needs.
