Aim

Airshow Heroes creates memories for those going through cancer treatment with a VIP day out for them and their family at an airshow.

The Vision

Airshow Heroes has been set up to create beautiful memories for those going through cancer treatment. We will provide VIP days out for family and friends at an airshow in the UK, bringing the magic of aviation at a time where fun and a real distraction is needed.

How Will We Do This?

I've been part of the airshow community for nearly 20 years, organising one of the world's largest aviation events and advising many others. I love aviation, it's so uplifting(!) and my Mum even made me a 'Top Gun' hat to protect my head!

I'm passionate about the power of airshows to engage and inspire and bring joy to people so getting people that are on the rollercoaster of cancer treatment to experience this is really important. Why you ask?    1787849982_top_gun_hat.jpg

The Diagnosis

In June 2026 I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, a total shock for a healthy (or so I thought) 51 year old!

The response by our NHS has been fantastic and I quickly had lots of tests and biopsies and the treatment plan was agreed.

I've just started 18 months of treatment with 6 rounds (3 weeks apart) of chemotherapy and targeted drugs then I have surgery, a mastectomy and my lymph nodes and then another 18 rounds of chemotherapy.

How Will It Work?

We look to offer a family, local to the airshow (within a 30 mile drive) a lovely VIP day out at an airshow. The reason for the 'local' is that undergoing treatment myself I know that travelling far, being away from your 'hospital' and the general fatigue make it better to be close by.

Having worked in airshows for nearly 20 years and being a Board Member of European Airshow Council, I know it's not easy to make airshows commercial viable (apart from the very large ones), and many are run by volunteers. This is why we are fundraising so we can pay for the tickets and also provide goody bags, a photographer to create a memory book etc.

We hope you will also believe in the magic of airshows to make what is a difficult experience be forgotten for a few hours with aviation memories that last forever.
