Help us publish "The AIMS Guide to Breech Birth" the next in our respected series of books supporting informed decision making.
AIMS works towards better births for all by campaigning and information sharing, protecting human rights in childbirth and helping everyone to know their rights, whatever birth they want, and wherever they want it.
The AIMS Guides are primarily intended to provide accessible, easy-to-read information on topics of key concern to maternity service users and those who support them. They give an objective view of the evidence and explain the options, supporting people to make informed decisions about their care. They are also a handbook for those working in any part of our maternity services, for birth workers, midwives, childbirth educators and anyone else supporting parents through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
It is estimated that 3-4% of babies will be in the breech (bottom down) position in late pregnancy. Parents who discover that their baby is breech need good quality, objective information in order to make informed decisions about whether to try different methods of encouraging the baby to turn, and whether to plan for a vaginal breech birth or a caesarean birth if the baby remains breech. Those who support parents, including midwives, antenatal educators and professional birth supporters (doulas) also need this information in order to inform and support their clients.
Anything raised over the publishing costs will go into general funds, to provide administrative support for volunteers, workshops, website, Helpline phone line and online shop.
