To engage students in engineering with a focus on green energy and its role in our future by competing in the GreenPower project.
In October 2019 we started an ambitious but exciting project - to build a fully electric race car. We are not mechanics or engineers and nor do we have any racing experience. We are a few students in a rural Norfolk secondary school, excited about the concept of electric cars and sustainable living.
Unfortunately, like most things, the pandemic got in the way of our project but we have finally been able to pick our project back up again. We have researched, designed and built the car including its aerodynamics and we are almost at the stage of being able to race.
We have done our own fundraising - holding bake sales and approaching local organisations for sponsorship money. The project is mainly student-led, meaning that we are expected to manage our time effectively and organise ourselves. Our teacher is there for advice and support (and to make sure we are staying safe!).
We are very excited to compete against other schools this year but need just a little bit more help to get us there. We are still in need of a few tools to help us, some materials to make our final bodywork design and the all-important safety wear we need for racing.
