Age UK Northamptonshire

RCN 1059995, Northampton

A local independent charity providing services and support to 18,000 older people and their families every year. Together, we can improve later life for everyone in Northamptonshire.

Age UK Northamptonshire is a local independent charity that cares for older people in Northamptonshire.  We help them to make the best of life and to have a secure and dignified old age by providing the support that enables them to live independently.  We are reliable and business-like, compassionate and caring.

Everything we do aims to show vulnerable older people that they have not been forgotten and that there is help available.

Our Information & Advice Service provides free, confidential and independent advice on matters that affect older people.  In the financial year 2023/24 our team of seven part-time workers received 3,891 enquiries and supported 1,688 new clients.  They helped people claim £3,683,327 in welfare benefits, submitting 1,187 claims for Attendance Allowance.  A successful claim for Attendance Allowance is often life-changing for our clients.

Our free Telephone Befriending service is aimed at older people who feel isolated and are at risk of being lonely.  A friendly volunteer will call for a regular chat on the phone.  We try to prioritise people who do not have family or friends they feel able to rely on.

Age UK Northamptonshire provides practical services that are provided by reliable, trustworthy staff who make a huge difference to people’s everyday life.  Care Support At Home visits older people at home, providing regular support and company to people who need it.  We also support carers.  Our Gardening Service, Handyperson Service, Toenail Cutting Service and Home Care Cleaning Service can take the worry out of living independently in your own home.  Our three day centres give older people somewhere to meet friends, enjoy stimulating activities and feel looked after.

We make a charge for some of our services to help cover our costs and we have several contracts from the NHS.  Our nine shops in Northamptonshire raise vital income, but we cannot survive without the support of our donors and kind fundraisers.  Please visit our website to learn about the other support we provide that is not mentioned here.

Thank you for enabling us to make a difference to over 18,000 older people and their families every year.
