Wizzy & Alex are rowing the Atlantic in 2027 to inspire resilience. After campaign costs, all additional funds will support Samaritans.
We’re Wizzy & Alex, a mixed-pair team taking on the World’s Toughest Row - an unsupported crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in December 2027. Together we’ve launched Against the Tide, a campaign built to inspire hope, resilience and movement when life feels overwhelming. With backgrounds in endurance sport, adventure, and lived experience of mental health challenges, we’re rowing to show that even the toughest tides can turn — one stroke at a time.
Rowing across the Atlantic is one of the hardest endurance challenges in the world – but the toughest part isn’t the ocean, it’s getting to the start line. To take on this row safely, we need to fund a specialist ocean rowing boat, essential safety equipment, navigation systems, training, and the logistics needed to reach La Gomera for the start of the race.
Once these campaign costs are covered, every additional penny raised will go directly to Samaritans, helping ensure more people get life-saving emotional support before they reach crisis. Our aim is to inspire hope through movement while supporting a charity whose work means no one has to struggle alone.
This Crowdfunder helps us access that start line — and ultimately unlocks our ability to raise substantial funds for Samaritans.
Transparency is central to our campaign. Your support will help us fund the essential elements required to compete safely in the 2027 Atlantic race. Our costs include:
To bring supporters into our journey, we’ve created four sponsorship packages:
Once these campaign essentials are funded, all further donations will support Samaritans.
At the heart of Against the Tide is a commitment to mental health, resilience, and community connection. By sharing our journey publicly, we aim to spark conversations about perseverance, asking for help, and taking small steps forward when life feels overwhelming.
Through community events, online storytelling, and our pre- and post-expedition short film, we hope to inspire people of all ages to keep going - even when the tide feels against them.
Our fundraising, once our campaign costs are covered, will support Samaritans, whose work helps ensure that no one faces their darkest moments alone. By backing this project, you’re not only helping us reach the start line - you’re helping us create meaningful impact far beyond the ocean.
There are four simple ways to help make this project a reality:
1. Make a pledge. Early momentum is everything, so please don’t delay if you’re planning to support us.
2. Spread the word. Share our project across your social media and tell friends, family, and colleagues about our mission.
3. Offer rewards. If you’re a local business or organisation, donate items or experiences we can offer to supporters — we’ll proudly shout you out.
4. Fundraise for us. Want to take on your own challenge? Use the contact project button to let us know and we’ll help you set up your own fundraising page.
Every action — big or small — helps propel us towards the Atlantic and unlocks further fundraising for Samaritans.
