We're still collecting donations
On the 17th April 2025 we'd raised £15,024 with 31 supporters in 25 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
To install a new drainage system on the cricket pitch following significant disruption to cricket training & matches in 2023-24
by Andrew Kennedy in Alderley Edge, Cheshire East, United Kingdom
On the 17th April 2025 we'd raised £15,024 with 31 supporters in 25 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are a recreational cricket club based in Alderley Edge offering cricket for all ages and genders throughout the summer months.
The cricket club is crowdfunding to ensure we can raise additional funds to ensure the project can go ahead. We are arranging funding from the ECB and have some club reserves however there is a shortfall in the total required. The total cost of the project is approx £50,000 so any donations will be well recieved.
The money raised will be exclusively spent on the drainage project to ensure the cricket pitches remain sustainable and available for use for the entirety of the cricket season
Once this project completes this will allow more cricket sessions (matches and training) to take place without being cancelled / postponed by the waterlogged outfield. There will always be cricket sessions cancelled due to the weather, however in 2023 and 2024 we had to cancel many sessions when the weather on the day was actually fine.
Our membership currently consist of boys and girls from 6 years old through to 18, senior players and also a veterans team made up of mostly retired cricketers - all of these groups would be positively impacted.
We have found both during COVID and last season with the impact of the waterlogged pitch that we have lost members as they have not been able to take part in continued regular activity. Having a facility that is more robust towards the elements will help retain our membership and increase the number of active users throughout the season.
Additionally, in 2025 we are starting the ECBs flagship entry level junior programmes - Allstars (Boys and Girls 5-8) and Dynamos (Girls 9-11). We have not run these programmes before but feel they will add significant new members and participants at our club. Since these are beginner level programmes they just use the cricket outfield and softballs to help the children learn the game. We are expecting >50 children attending 8 weekly sessions over the summer. Had we run this programme in 2024 we would have cancelled at least 2 of the sessions due to the waterlogged outfield on a clear bright evening.
