The initial money goes all to Stephen Goss for composing the pieces. Any extra money raised will go towards making a professional, top quality recording and videos to further publicise the pieces and help them reach more audiences around the world.
What I'm trying to do
I'm raising money to commission renowned composer and guitarist Stephen Goss to write 12 new intermediate-level preludes, which will then be published in a book by Les Productions d'OZ/Les Éditions Doberman-Yppan, and recorded by me, Francisco Correa. I had the idea that 12 members of the public could provide funding to "adopt" a prelude - in return they'd have an adoption certificate, their names in print in the final published book, as well as get to choose a name for the piece and have a say in the creative composition process (an added perk).
Why these pieces are needed
Contemporary music (as in music written today) is often aimed at advanced guitar players, and therefore set up as being "scary" or inaccessible to most guitarists. This is absolutely not true, but it is true that there is very little new classical music written which is both playable by intermediate guitarists and easily accessible to first-time audiences: these pieces aim to be enjoyable to play and to listen to.
These new preludes will be performed in a wide variety of contexts: Teachers will be soon encouraging their pupils to learn them, we hope for them to be included on grade syllabuses in a few years' time, and also as miniature pieces they will be perfect for professional guitar recitals as a refresher between longer works.
Reasons to adopt:
A truly unique and everlasting gift for a guitar-music-lover in your life. Christmas is coming!!
Or a chance to have your name in print, as the dedicatee (adoptive parent) of a new piece of core guitar repertoire. These pieces are destined to be played by guitarists all over the world for long after our time - immortalise yourself!
Other ways to support the project:
If you can't adopt a whole prelude (perhaps you don't have the finances or space in your life right now for a little guitar piece causing havoc!), you can support the project by donating towards the recording and publicity of the preludes, to give them the best possible start in life...
