Training and children's education - Socotra, Yemen

Raising funds for a young man from Socotra, Yemen for a career training program and help support local children's education
Update...
All the extra money that we raised over our target will go to help primary school children on Socotra, especially girls, with school fees and urgently needed books and educational materials.
School fees are around £60 a year for one child, so we will be able to support several children.
All contributions have been hugely appreciated.
The project
The beautiful, paradise island of Socotra lies off the coast of Yemen, the most impoverished country in the Middle East. My Socotri friend was selected for a training programme in air traffic control at the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Institute in Sana'a, Yemen's capital city. This was a really exciting opportunity, but the Institute only provides a basic scholarship, which is simply not enough to live on in Sana'a, a relatively expensive city.
The project was to help extend the scholarship allowance, which we achieved successfully.
