26th January 2016Action-for-Cabbies update
We’d like to thank everyone who has supported the Action-for-Cabbies campaign ‘a very big thank you’. The first week of campaigning went amazingly well and we raised over £82k, from 1494 backers, which means we’re on track to reach our target of £600k if donations keep coming in at the current rate.
Our PR company (Redleaf) helped kick start the campaign and Action-for-Cabbies received some great media coverage including Sky News, Evening Standard, City AM, Metro and Tech Crunch, to name but a few. Over the next 48 days we’ll be cranking up the PR and marketing, which will be spearheaded by the Action-for-Cabbies flyer.
We’re going to need help with the distribution of 100,000 flyers across London, some trade suppliers have kindly allowed their business premises to be used as distributions points for those who are willing to hand out flyers on the ranks etc. If you can help, please grab a bundle from any of the supporting business’s listed at the bottom of this update.
We’d also kindly ask you share the Action-for-Cabbies website link: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/action-for-cabbies/? with all your social media contacts and also send it to other trade contacts/organisations and ask them to promote too.
You may also want to organise or encourage others to do mini fundraising activities, if you do please send photos and/or post them on social media to gain maximum exposure for the action.
We really need to let everyone know how important this action is against TfL, whatever help you’re able to give will be greatly appreciated. You can contact Action-for-Cabbies by clicking on the following link:
Flexible Funding
You may have noticed the Action-for-Cabbies Crowdfunder website is using flexible funding, a few have asked questions so we’d like to clarify what this actually means and why we are using flexible funding rather than a fixed fund.
If we were set up for fixed funding we’d need to raise the full £600k to proceed with this case when the fund closes in 48 days. If we were £1,000 under £600k that would be the end of this action and all pledges would be returned to those who have pledged a donation.
Having flexible funding in place allows us (with the consent of those who have donated) to proceed with the case even if we are a little short of the target, giving us time to raise the shortfall, whilst the case is progressing.
We just want to reassure those who’ve donated and anyone who is thinking about donating that all monies pledged will go towards applying to the Court for permission to bring an application for judicial review against Transport for London (TfL)'.
