Action for Action Petz
Action Petz Indoor Dog Parks, Doggy Day Care and training centres are based in South Wales in Cardiff and Bridgend. Action Petz was founded in 2014 when Shelley Redding owner and founder had her dog stolen whilst out on a dog walk in a local Cardiff park. After 12 heartbreaking and gruelling days of seaching both day and night, the gorgeous Rocco was found.
It didn't take long before Shelley realised the need for safe places for people to take their dogs and embarked on a mission to change the lives of many dogs and owners for the better.
The first dog park was launched in 2014 in Cardiff and the first franchise in Bridgend followed just over 1 year later. Since 2014 Action Petz has attracted lots of fantastic media attention and has built up a loyal customer base.
Action Petz Cardiff is housed in 2 large warehouses totalling 21,000sq ft in total and encompasses a fabulous dog park with both inside and outside secure play areas plus:
- Doggy Day Care.
- Cafe for owners and dogs to relax.
- Pet Shop.
- Training and exercising arena.
- Agility course.
- Vet service
- Dog grooming.
- Educational courses.
- Dogs Trust Dog training classes.
- Safe play / exercise spaces for shy, anxious and timid dogs.
Action Petz Bridgend mirrors Cardiff in the services it offers.
Action Petz started from very humble beginnings, with only a £20k start up loan, this really was a shoe string budget venture with most items sourced second hand. Free furniture was donated by local dog lovers, family and friends pitched in with painting parties to be ready in time for the launch, it was very much a labour of love, and still is.
Due to it's roots and Shelley Redding's inherent love for dogs's Action Petz is completely FREE for any dog without a permanent home. This includes dogs in rescue centres, shelters and even foster placements. In fact Hope Rescue, Four Paws and Cardiff Dogs Home have all made use of our wonderful facilities and every Monday, Kennel Dogs from Hope Rescue in South Wales come for free play sessions and training in our 'Freedom Park' which was built with rescue dogs in mind so that they can run free and play like all of the other more fortunate dogs that are our members. We are thrilled that our training classes and workshops and behavioural sessions are delivered by the wonderful Dogs Trust, highly commended and well respected trainers so we can be sure that any training delivered at Action Petz is carried out with our shared ethos.
Over the past 23 months, Action Petz has held many charity events and helped to raise a lot of money for animal charities and this still makes up part of our work.
The hard work and dedication of our wonderful work force is often highly commended in more than 200 5 star Facebook reviews, and the wonderful community of members that we have built up is heart warming and humbling. Dogs from a huge geographical area come and enjoy zooming around our park, jumping over the jumps, dashing through the tunnels and even paddling in our paddlings pools, all whilst meeting up with their favourite doggy friends!
All of this has taken a lot of blood sweat, tears, and of course: financial input. Due to the nature of how the company was started and despite growing and developing at what seems like a rate of knots Action Petz is drawing on the power of the people!
Your pledge will help us to make more dogs happy
We would like to raise money so that we can further develop our centres, buy new play equipment for the dogs, continue training our dedicated staff, implement a marketing budget and place ourselves in a position for growth, and potentially investment.
We are finding it difficult to expand and grow due to high over heads and lack of marketing budget. So we are reaching out for you for help us.
Our aim is set up 5 more centres in the UK in the near future for a lot of more dogs to have safe, healthy and relaxed places to play, train and socialise.
