Aim

Help me to launch Acid House Designs – a rebellious, colourful, anti-beige interior design studio for people bored of bland.

Hi, I’m Harry  — aka Harry the Designer — and I’m launching Acid House Designs, a rebellious new interior design studio for people who don’t want their homes to look like everyone else’s.

My path here hasn’t been straightforward. I started out as a soldier, then became a mental health nurse, and in my late 30s retrained as an interior designer, graduating with first-class honours. I’m also a failed DJ, a semi-retired raver, and an unsuccessful club promoter — all of which have shaped my design outlook: expressive, characterful, a bit chaotic, and proudly not for everyone. I’m also neurodivergent, which probably explains the hyperfocus, the late-night sketching marathons, and why my designs sometimes look like a cartoon had a breakdown in a nightclub.

My Bristol flat — which I designed and renovated myself — was recently featured in Metro, Bristol 24/7 magazine, and even shared by Zoopla on their social media. The press described it as:

📰 “A cornucopia of delights.”
📰 “The coolest flat in Bristol.”
📰 “A maximalist dream.”

📰"Unadulterated madness"

📰"will definitely elevate your levels of cool"

That flat became a manifesto. Now, with your help, I’m launching Acid House Designs as a proper studio — starting from my new home in Edinburgh.

 What’s It All About?

Acid House Designs is not about what’s fashionable, or what’s trending on Pinterest. It’s not about Scandi minimalism, greige walls, or “timeless neutrals.” It’s about fun. It’s about spaces that make people smile. It’s about joy, personality, and storytelling — not just surface aesthetics.

This studio is for the people who feel alienated by traditional design. For the punks, the party-starters, the outsiders, the late bloomers. For those who want a home bar that feels like an L.A dive bar, a spare room that’s part rave cave, part reading nook, or an Airbnb that guests actually remember.

My design influences come from club culture, street art, festival stages, pop-art, arcade graphics, DIY creativity, and a total refusal to be beige. It’s a studio with a soul — grounded in kindness, ethics, and a desire to help people feel good in their space. That means using eco-conscious materials [whenever possible], working with like-minded creatives, and not chasing social media likes at the cost of integrity. I want to build an ethical, human-first design practice — not a lifestyle brand pretending to care. Check what my stuff is like on my PORTFOLIO

How I’m Making It Happen

To get this started, I’ve recently qualified as an HGV driver — so while I’m working on Acid House Designs, I’ll be hauling goods across Scotland and funding the dream one delivery at a time.

Where Your Money Goes

This crowdfunder will help me:

  • Create a studio space that becomes the physical face of Acid House Designs — the creative HQ that shows what this brand stands for

  • Build a custom website that reflects the brand’s rebellious energy (expect animations, acid squelches, and zero beige)

  • Fund branded rewards, print materials, and early promo costs

  • Reach more people who’ve never seen their personalities reflected in traditional design studios

If you’re tired of seeing the same grey interiors over and over again… if you want design with character, humour, colour, and soul… if you believe creative businesses should actually stand for something — then please support Acid House Designs.

Let’s de-boring the world, one room at a time.

Thank you so much.
Harry
