We want to raise £1800 so that we can build an outdoor kitchen enabling us to deliver Edible Schoolyard sessions and have a pop cafe on site
We are building an outdoor kitchen!
This kitchen classroom will become the heart of our new educational programme on the farm, The Edible Schoolyard. This project integrates hands on organic gardening with seasonal cooking, creating positive food memories for young people and their families. The outdoor kitchen will be used to process harvests, prepare ingredients, teach food education, cook together and share meals with each other.
Once constructed, The Edible schoolyard will be running weekly sessions for children (linking with local schools), hosting special events and organising cooking workshops for families. Aldermoor Community Farm will also be running pop up cafes from the space, serving hot drinks and homemade cakes to our visitors on farm shop days!
We are asking for £1800 to cover the costs of a:
• Concrete base (the 7x4 metre footprint of the kitchen)
• Timber frame and roof (we already have the roof!)
• Kitchen units (food-grade surfaces, sink units, cooking stations and storage)
We are blessed with volunteer hours and some tradesmen helping free of charge to put this together at minimal cost, but we do need to buy materials to make this a sustainable, durable kitchen that can be enjoyed by many, for many years to come.
