Help us create inclusive facilities at Larne Rugby Club with a lift, accessible toilets, changing rooms, and improved access for all.
Who are we? Larne Rugby Club has been at the heart of our community since 1912. With over 400 members, we provide rugby opportunities for men, women, and young people of all ages, from mini rugby to senior level. Our facilities include three pitches, a gym, and a social space that serve not only our members but also the wider community. Each summer we host programmes for local children, and throughout the year our venue is used for fitness classes, events, and activities that bring people together. Our ethos is built on respect, inclusivity, and a commitment to creating opportunities for everyone.
Why are we crowdfunding?
At present, our club does not have any disability access, toilets or changing facilities on the first floor. This creates a major barrier for anyone with mobility issues and makes it difficult for us to be truly inclusive. We want to change that. With your support, we plan to install a lift, create a mezzanine space with a new disability-accessible toilet, shower and changing room, and upgrade our internal and external doors to meet building control standards for wheelchair access. These changes will make our club genuinely accessible for all members, visitors, and the wider community.
How we’ll spend the money raised:-
The money raised through this campaign & with the Help of Sport NI Olympic Legacy Fund, will be used to install a lift, create an fully accessible changing, shower and toilet area, and upgrade our entrance and internal doors so they meet modern accessibility standards. These works will allow us to make the first floor of the club fully usable for people with disabilities, older members, visitors, and community groups. The funding will go directly towards construction costs, installation, and associated professional fees needed to complete the project safely and to required regulations.
Sport NI, through the Olympic Legacy Fund, will match a portion of every penny we raise, meaning every donation you make goes that little bit further and means that much more! This means that Larne RFC and Sport NI, together can make a lasting impact on the facilities and community at Larne Rugby Club.
Community impact
This project is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about people. By making our club fully accessible, we will ensure that individuals with disabilities, older members, and anyone with mobility challenges can enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else. The improvements will open our doors to more community groups, allow us to host inclusive events, and ensure that our facilities reflect the values of respect and equality we stand for. This will create a lasting legacy, encouraging more people to get active, connect socially, and feel proud of their local club.
