We want to rejuvenate the bowling green surround to make it accessible to those who are disabled, partially sighted, elderly and able bodied
Coed Gwilym Bowls Green is a well used bowling green with over 70 members. To ensure continued safe access for our existing members (some of whom who are getting a bit older!), and to encourage new members to take up our sport, we desperately need to rejuvenate this part of the overall facility.
A New Community Club House is being built beside the green in the new year and members have already donated six lovely new benches to go around the green which will be available in February 2022. Our green is one of the best in the area, thanks to the wonderful dedication of our eight voluntary green keepers who work throughout the year to achieve this. They use an organic fertilising system which works really well and cut the grass, the hedges and maintain the flower beds and boxes, as well as other tasks such as watering in the summer. The only item that lets our facility down is the surround and this is the reason for this project.
The overall cost of this project is £32,000 and £8,000 of this has already been raised through donations from the Friends Group of £4,000, and from Coed Gwilym Bowls of £4,000 . Sport Wales will hopefully match fund 50% of the remaining balance of £24,000 and we plan to crowdfund the remainder of £12,000.
Your assistance is very much appreciated as it will, in particular, help the more vulnerable element of our community.

The completion of this project will provide probably the best bowling green and facilities in the area which will make it a prestige facility for our local and wider community as it should attract Finals in various competitions. This means additional income for the community club house through its shop, which in turn provides funds for improving other facilities in the park.
It is a WIN WIN situation for the whole community.
We hope it will attract more members from the wider community, as many other bowling clubs have shut down. Our club will have more people being active more often, as well as providing an attractive and fully accessible area for spectators to also enjoy the sport.
