Abseiling the Spinnaker Tower for Endo South Coast

Aim

1 in 10 women are diagnosed with endometriosis. Endo South Coast is a fantastic local charity offering support. They need of our help!

Whether we realise it or not we all know somebody with endometriosis. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10. But despite that it takes women with symptoms on average 8-9 years to get a diagnosis and often longer to get the help and support they need.

Who am I?

I'm Virginia a Pelvic Health Physio working in both the NHS and The Pelvic Pain Network to support women in pain and researching how we can improve our NHS services. 

What am I doing?

Jumping right out of my comfort zone to abseil down the enormous Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth (it's a whopping 170m/ 560 ft tall) on Saturday 5th July to raise much needed funds to support the important work of Endometriosis South Coast. I'm not a fan of heights. I've had some wobbles before. I really wouldn't be able to even consider doing this if it wasn't for such a great cause.

Why? 

In my job in the NHS and with The Pelvic Pain Network I meet women everyday who have had difficult journeys to get a diagnosis and the support they need for endometriosis and pelvic pain. I've seen what a huge difference supportive charities like Endometriosis South Coast can make for those affected at every stage of their diagnosis and treatment journey. 

They rely on fundraising to provide their supportive community, peer support events, resources and research. 

I'm pushing myself well out of my comfort zone to offer my support and I'd be so grateful for any support you could offer by sponsoring our event. You can make a huge difference to the work of these fantastic volunteers and the women they support.
