Abbots Bromley Sports Association (ABSA) is a charitable organisation established with a vision to provide a fabulous outdoor space for sports and social activities for our local community.
Over the last 11 years, our volunteers and trustees have transformed a 14-acre meadow into a hub of sporting excellence. With meticulously maintained grass pitches for cricket and football, the ABSA sport ground is becoming a major contributor of sporting life in our local community.
The ABSA Sports Ground
Our FA-approved football pitches and ECB-approved cricket pitch have drawn players and spectators alike to our ground.
In partnership with Sporting PB, a local sports coaching business, we have further enriched our offerings, with programs catering to participants of all ages.
We are particularly proud to host the first Abbots Bromley Women's Football Team, Allstars Cricket, Junior Cricket, Junior Football, Senior Cricket and Senior Football and Summer Camps for school children.
But the ABSA ground is more than just a venue; it's a community space for families, friends, and sports enthusiasts alike. Here, spectators cheer on their favourite teams, players give their all, and bonds are forged that last a lifetime. And with our very own bar, the celebrations extend far beyond the final whistle.
It's a fabulous space!
We want to offer more, we want to offer a fully inclusive range of sports which we cannot do on grass pitches alone. An All Weather, Floodlit, Multi Use Court (MUC) will enable us to expand the range of activities on offer and, vitally, include Adaptive Sports. Our vision is to create a fully inclusive space for the whole community to enjoy. There is so much more we can offer our community with an MUC at the ground:
- Netball - the UK's most popular sport amongst young girls, remains a focal point of our aspirations. A MUC will enable Abbots Bromley Netball Club to once again be based in Abbots Bromley.
- Adaptive Sports - a hard-court surface will enable and encourage participants with disabilities to be included in all activities.
- 5-Aside Football
- Basketball
- Walking Sports - catering to people who may not have the confidence or fitness to participate in faster-paced games.
- School Children - partnerships with local schools in Abbots Bromley, Uttoxeter, and Burton will allow us to deliver sports across a wide range of year groups. Children using the MUC can play a wider range of sports and games, fostering their physical and social development in an exciting outdoor environment for play and exploration.
- Training and Player Development - working with Abbots Bromley Netball Club and Abbots Bromley Juniors Football, we aim to create opportunities and pathways for extra training and player development. This initiative will also establish a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) framework for grassroots coaches, facilitating education at a grassroots level.
- All Weather, All Year, 24/7- fundamentally the MUC will enable sport to be played throughout the year, 24/7. Currently, evening activities and sessions between October and March are either paused or held 10 miles away from the local community, hampering local participation and impeding the growth of the sports program.
Funds raised will directly contribute to the ABSA MUC project, ensuring that our new court is ready by late October 2024.
- £75,000k already secured from HS2. However this is time limited and if we do not secure the additional funds this money will be withdrawn and probably the only opportunity to build this court for the community will be gone.
- Donation of £1000 from Abbots Bromley Netball Club
- ABSA Fest June 2024 Fundraising estimate of £9,000
- We need to raise £30,000 through Crowdfunding to realise our vision.
Match funding opportunities will further incentivise our efforts, ensuring that every pound raised goes a long way.
Beyond sports, ABSA is committed to maximising opportunities for non-sporting activities, promoting mental well-being and social cohesion. A MUC will serve as a focal point for community gatherings and social programmes, enriching lives and fostering a sense of belonging.
As we embark on our crowdfunding journey to bring an All Weather, Floodlit, Multi Use Court to life, we invite you to be part of our story. Join us in creating a space where dreams are realised, friendships are strengthened, and the community comes together in the spirit of sport with every member finding their place to shine.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
Join us on our journey to make the MUC a reality. Whether it's making a pledge, spreading the word, or organising a fundraiser, every contribution counts. Together, we can create a space where sport transcends boundaries and empowers our community.
Thank you taking the time to read our Crowdfunding page and for your support in championing our cause. Together, we're not just building a court; we're laying the foundation for a brighter, more inclusive future.
