Aim
In association with Sport England we are looking to replace our 4 ancient floodlights with spangly new ones.
Who are we?
We are a community crown green bowling club based at the Garforth Country Club. The bowling section is run by unpaid volunteers and is financially independent of the club.
Our teams are made up of people of all ages (from teenagers to octogenarians) and all abilities who all enjoy the game of crown green bowling either socially or in organised league games 4 afternoons and 4 evenings a week.
Why are we Crowdfunding?
We have 4 ancient floodlights which have been condemned by our electrician and we are Crowdfunding in association with Sports England to try and raise £5880 to replace them. Sport England will match what we raise via the Crowdfund, but we need to raise just short of £2940, so please give what you can to help us achieve our part of the grant.
The new floodlights will allow us to complete matches in the spring and late summer when the evenings draw in quite early. If successful we are hoping to resurrect our autumn competition which will be run under floodlights during October and November.
How we'll spend the money raised
All monies raised will be spent on the upgrade of the required electrical components and the new floodlights themselves. Any pre upgrade work required to be done by the bowling club will be on an unpaid basis.
Community impact
The new floodlights will offer the opportunity for other groups (such as the local scout troop to whom we have ties) to make use of the bowling green during the evenings when there are no matches being played. It will also raise the profile of crown green bowling in the Garforth area, hopefully making it more accessible for young and old alike.
