Finish the job - secondary glaze the remaining 56 windows!
This is our beautiful historic building. As well as being home to culture and creativity in Exeter, it is a rare survivor of the 1942 Blitz which decimated other areas of our city.
As you can see, it has a lot of windows; 106 in total. These fill our galleries, studios and workshops with light, but they are all single-glazed and metal framed, meaning they lose A LOT of heat. What a pane!
But that needn't be the case - installing secondary glazing on our windows would preserve the look and feel of these special spaces, while eliminating draughts, retaining heat and reducing our energy consumption.
With so many windows to tackle, this is a costly job. But we now have the opportunity to double your donations and make this dream a reality thanks to M&S Energy's Community Fund, who have chosen our project to receive up to £5,000 in match funding.
Materials for each window will cost £200, so if we are successful in achieving our £10,000 target then we will be able to reduce the amount of heat lost through our 50 most wasteful windows!
What's more, Exeter Phoenix has pledged to cover the cost of installing the windows, making your donations go even further and have even greater impact.
So please, read on to find out more, or click the "Support Us" button at the top of this page to pledge your support and help us turn our building green!
Bang in the heart of Exeter city centre, Exeter Phoenix is a vibrant, world-class multi-artform venue. We are home to several art galleries, a theatre, gig spaces, art studios, dance studios, a cinema, film production resources and more, all centred around a buzzing Café Bar.
Each year we host hundreds of events and artistic activity spanning contemporary art, live music, DJs, cinema, theatre, dance, comedy, talks, creative courses, family events and everything in between.
Exeter Phoenix is a registered charity and with less than 20% of our activity covered by statutory funding, the support from the community helps make what we do on a daily basis possible. Your support is the reason we are able to offer free workshops and classes for young people, artist development and support schemes, access to the arts for all, and entry to our contemporary art gallery for free.
Reducing our environmental impact and creating a sustainable future for the arts is important to us at Exeter Phoenix. We have a proven track-record in this area, having already created the first solar-powered cinema in the South West and replaced all of our lights with low-energy LEDs.
There is strong evidence to show that, because of the huge footprint of construction, the building that already exists is the greenest. We are therefore appealing to you - our community of environmentally conscientious supporters - to help us raise the funds we need to make this building future-proof.
We're offering a myriad of unique rewards as part of this fundraising campaign that will only be available to our fantastic donors. Don't want to miss out on some once in a lifetime Exeter Phoenix experiences? See what we'll be offering below.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our project. If you are able to support us, every donation will be very gratefully received and really will make a difference to Exeter Phoenix, the community that we serve and the world in which we live.
