A Well for food, family and Community

Aim

Help Us Build a Well for a community garden in The Gambia.

Fourteen years ago, I travelled to The Gambia with my 2 children through the Brufut Education Project. During our stay, we were welcomed by a wonderful family in the village of Brufut, whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on us.

Since then, I have stayed in touch with the family. The mother, Mbassy, works tirelessly caring for her seven children and tending the community garden where she grows food to feed her family.

Right now, the garden is struggling. The weather has become extremely dry, and without enough water, crops are failing. This makes it increasingly difficult to grow food and support the family and wider community.

We want to help change that.

Our goal is to raise funds to build a well for the community garden — providing a reliable source of water that will help Mbassy, her seven children, and the wider village community grow food throughout the year.

A well would mean:
• Fresh water for the garden
• More reliable food production
• Greater food security for families
• Long-term support for the local community

This is more than building a well — it is creating a sustainable future for a family and a community.
