We're still collecting donations

On the 21st March 2023 we'd raised £1,805 with 19 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

Provide an even nicer space for our carers, team and building users - with food in the cupboards for those who are struggling.

Who are we?

Signpost Stockport for Carers is a longstanding, local charity that exists to support the health and wellbeing of anyone that is caring for a friend or family member. We operate the Heatons Centre as a community space, with rooms available for carer activities and events,

Community impact

Carers give so much of themselves to support others. Being a carer for someone has physical, emotional and financial impacts. It affects personal and professional relationships and can be all encompassing.

We work with carers to mitigate these impacts. You can't pour from an empty cup - and we are here to help Stockport carers refill! We provide counselling, benefits support, training and loads of opportunities to share experiences and make connections. If we can bring a smile, reduce isolation or give a carer the confidence to continue caring then we know we're on the right track.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Carers are disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis. Carers Allowance has not been increased, whilst costs of fuel, washing, food and essentials (such as incontinence pads) have gone up exponentially. Carers are often unable to work additional hours and many are supporting two households. Those supporting someone with autism or dementia may be unable to make switches in routines or products, leaving them trapped with spiralling costs.

Our building is a haven for carers, yet as a charity we are facing our own increasing costs and it is more expensive to heat and power our building.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be used to help our charity pay our energy bills, as well as enabling us to keep a room free (and well stocked) that our carers and our community can drop in to for a warm and welcoming hour or two.

It will support our community cafe and enable us to buy a number of resources to make it an interesting, enjoyable and all round lovely place to be!
