Will you help Animal Welfare Party stand up and be a voice for animals in the London Wide Assembly Election on 5th May 2016?

Animal Welfare Party is UK political party aiming to create a fairer, more equitable and sustainable society - one in which the interests of the environment, people and animals are all equally taken into account.

We're part of a world-wide movement of over 15 political parties for animals that takes in Australia, Europe, Canada and the US - and each year, new parties are forming.

Our sister parties in the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Australia have already been successful in returning dedicated representatives for animals to their decision making bodies and we know that, as a nation of animal lovers, the same is possible in the UK. We hope you'll help us.

We intend to stand in the London Wide Assembly Election on the 5th May but, as you may be aware, contesting elections doesn't come cheap. Our party is entirely run by volunteers and we receive no government or lottery funding. In fact, the only funding we receive comes from kind-hearted people like you – in the form of donations and membership fees.

We'd love your support so that we can raise the £5000 we need as a deposit to stand in the London Wide Assembly Election and a further £2000 (or part thereof) to allow us to print election leaflets, posters and other marketing material that will help us spread the word about our party. Will you help us?

We have a vision for London as a world leading city - not only for people but for animals and the environment too (see some of our policies below).

Your donation, no matter how large or small, will help us demonstrate that that our vision has real support from the public.

We know so many people out there care about animal welfare and environmental issues and elections are our opportunity to demonstrate just how important these are to so many.

Will you spare whatever you can today to help us realise our vision for animals and the environment – a vision in which we all stand to gain?

Sincere Thanks

The AWP Team

AWP's vision for London includes:

  • Creating an Animal Welfare Committee within the London Assembly recognising the place of London’s majority 9 million plus animals in our society

  • Phasing out the sale of both foie gras & fur products across the capital, whilst promoting London’s animal-product-free economy with festivals, events & incentives for businesses operating without harm to animals & the environment

  • Phasing out experimentation on 300,000 plus animals per year at London’s universities – with real support for the development of alternatives & a Mayor’s Award for Innovation in this field

  • Humane management of London’s fox, deer & other wildlife populations

  • Improving the health of Londoners, saving NHS funds, protecting the environment & global food security by promoting healthy plant-based diets across the capital

  • Ensuring sustainable, plant-based options are available at every meal in schools, nurseries, care homes & hospitals

  • Rethinking procurement policy so that, across the GLA family, public funds are not spent on products that have a negative effect on human health, the environment or animal welfare – here or anywhere else in the world

  • Introducing a London-wide pet abandonment prevention plan, pushing to replace breed specific legislation & introducing city-wide measures deterring owners from training animals to attack
