A Taste of Twickenham is a not-for-profit registered Community Interest Company. We work with a wide swath of the Twickenham community to organise unique events that showcase all the wonderful things we have right on our doorstep. - Our Summer Street Party is our biggest event of the year and presents a fantastic opportunity for local independent businesses, restaurants, musicians, venues, pubs, artists and artisans, DJ's, actors, dancers and more to promote what they do directly to the public. This coming together engenders a great sense of community spirit and fosters ongoing collaborations. It's also a cracking family day out!
The theme of this year's event reflects a message we promote on our social media platforms year round which is " Cut the Carbon....Eat Local, Shop Local. Party Local!". To strengthen this message we have once again applied to close 2 blocks of York Street for the day creating a large pedestrianised area! We also encourage folks to ditch the car and arrive on foot, by bike or public transport and ask our food vendors to use environmentally friendly package and to recycle their rubbish.
A Taste of Twickenham has no paid employees but we do have a team of dedicated volunteers. They help to keep costs down but there are many things still we need to pay for to make the event happen. The projected budget for this year's event is £27,000, which pays for stages, the York Street closure, equipment, barricades, first aid, security and street marshalls, performance fees and promotion. We have already raised £12,000 through sponsorships and are projected to raise another £5000 from raffle tickets sales meaning we still have to find £10,000 to put us over the finish line. We are asking for your help. If you enjoyed last years event, lease donate what you can, if you can. No donation is too small ( or too large!!!)
