Aim

We are fundraising for our upcoming film A Quill For a Sword. It's a medieval period film fictionalising the English invasion of Wales.

A Quill For A Sword

Why Support Us?

Our film offers a fresh perspective on the conflicts between the Welsh and the English with an entirely female/gender-queer cast to combat the lack of representation in medieval period films, as well as a significant proportion of the dialogue being in Welsh to bring an authenticity to the narrative that can often be overlooked. Our crew is representative of the demographics we will be showing on screen as we are a heavily female/queer crew, and our screenwriter is Welsh and Welsh-speaking.

What is the Film's Narrative?

In the midst of invasion, Gwilym, a Glyndaro rebel, kidnaps a Saxon commander for a chance at gaining the upper hand. However, when their peaceful approach proves unsuccessful, Gwilym must reckon with the fact that winning the war may mean drawing their sword.

What Will the Money Fund?

We are travelling to Norfolk for our filming locations to ensure we have the accurate rural, historical spaces to tell this story in a way that will help to fully immerse our film in it's medieval time period. The money we receive will fund our fuel and food to enable us to do this. Additionally, we will be hiring actors for our film as this is a key part of ensuring our film feels realistic, as we will need actors who can embody our characters and do them justice. Furthermore, we will use your donations to put towards costuming, props, and locations to give our film greater authencity and historical accuracy. Our film will also include action sequences we know will bring excitement and element of threat and danger to the narrative, so we will also need funding to work alongside a stunt co-ordinator and a props company.
