The New Roots Garden is a haven for many
The wonderful New Roots Garden is a haven for so many groups and families - a green lush space in the city, where we keep bees, grow vegetables and fruit, share food, host events, have singing, reconnect with the soil. On 26th November, a fire was started in the shelter in the middle of the night. Our potting shed, all our pots, seeds and kitchen equipment was burnt to the ground.
Help us rebuild
In the face of this tragedy, we are choosing hope, and choosing to rebuild, so that the garden can continue to be well-used and loved, and have a dry, good space for people to meet and sit together. We are raising money for the materials needed to rebuild our structures and replace the equipment that was lost.
The original shelter was lovingly built by volunteers and asylum seekers in 2015, from sustainable materials, with the assistance of UWE and the Architecture Centre. This little video shows how beautiful this structure was - https://vimeo.com/138176791. We hope to make something just as brilliant if we can raise the money to rebuild.
Please do support in whatever way you can.
