If we get a bit more we can buy Sam a decent lock so that this doesn't happen again....
We want to quickly buy a replacement bike for Sam, who had his stolen from Southampton General Hospital whilst he was working.
Sam Mckeown is studying medicine at Southampton Uni. He's just completed his 4th year and is working as a healthcare assistant at Southampton General Hospital. Last night (Saturday 28th March) he finished his late shift but when he went to the bike rack he found the padlock had been cut and his bike stolen.
His frustrated facebook post was picked up by Sally Croft in Guildford - Sally knows Sam from when her daughter worked with him at Linkable (https://www.linkable.org.uk) in Woking. That's where Sam is from.
I think we all feel the same way about this don't we? A combination of empathy & sadness for Sam, fury at the thieves: this would be bad enough at any time, but just now the theft and the target, an NHS working student somehow makes it worse.
So this crowdfunder is a practical response. If we get to £300 quickly we can just get a new replacement bike. If we make a little more we can get him a decent D-lock too
You up for that?
NOTE: Su (far right) has set up the Crowdfunder because she works for Crowdfunder and knows how to do it quickly, Sally (Centre) is involved because she knows Sam (far left) and can vouch for him/reassure you that he and his story are real. The money will go straight into his bank account. If any of the other appeals we have made to the bike retailers are met, or if Sam manages to get himself a cheaper bike any surplus will be donated to Linkable.
