A Kung Fu Movie On Stage

Thunder Cake Productions!

Thunder Cake is turning classic on-screen excitement into on-stage adventure, in a style we’re calling ‘Action-as-narrative’.  We’re gonna re-create a kung fu movie on stage; a humorous, affectionate homage to a film genre we love.  It'll feature amazing sound effects,  talented performers including vocal artists and some crazy physical tricks and stunts. 

We made a start on this project with a little piece we did as a proof of concept and now with more professional experience under our belts we can create something bigger, better, faster, slicker, hairier.  A love letter to every Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee moment we've ever wanted to see up close - coming to a stage near you in 2019!

But before we get there we have a ton of work to do. We need to secure funding, convince theatre and arts organisations to work with us (like the fabulous Garage Theatre in Norwich, our first major partner organisation), do research, find our audience, find actors who have the (literal) chops to take on the broad range of skills and training we'll be asking of them, do theatre R&D, write, rehearse and much more.

This Crowdfunder, as a wise Jedi* once sort-of said, is taking our first step into a larger world.

*there won't be Jedi in this show, probably, but there will almost certainly be an ancient wise master wearing  a robe or something, so it's totes relevant.
