Will you help us save our world? Let’s start here in West Yorkshire. The world as we once knew it has changed beyond recognition.
The world as we once knew it has changed beyond recognition. 2020 has seen millions across the globe locked in their homes, lose their jobs and be kept apart from their friends and families.
What has the government done to stop this?
Dithered.
They’ve gone back and forth with different ideas, ignored science, lied for their friends when they’ve broken rules and blamed the public for doing as they were told.
It’s time we fought back.
Donate today to help elect a Green Party Mayor and Deputy Mayor for West Yorkshire.
Protection of green spaces.
Too many of our council see our green space and think ‘planning opportunity’. We’ll fight to make sure they are protected, allowing nature to thrive and soak up carbon.
More public transport links.
We all know driving cars is bad for the planet, but without viable alternatives many are left without a choice. We’ll fight for greater public transport links across the region, as well as more safe cycling routes to help people lower their environmental impact as they get from A to B.
A fairer democracy.
The current voting system is rigged to favour the major parties. None of them are doing enough to combat climate change. We’ll push for a fairer electoral practice that truly represents the voice of the people.

Hawarun Hussain is a former Green Party Councillor who represented Shipley Ward for 14 years.
Hawarun’s background is in public health. She was a community development volunteer for several years before joining the NHS and specialising in Public Health and health promotion.
In 2007, Hawarun became the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford – making three firsts in the process. She was the first Green Party councillor to take up a civic role in any metropolitan authority in the country; the first Asian woman to take on the deputy role in Bradford; and the first Bangladeshi heritage councillor in the city to wear any civic chains.
