Raising money to fund the Green Party campaign for Sheffield City Region

by Bradford District Green Party in South Yorkshire

 New stretch target

To stand a mayoral candidate we need to find a total of £8,000.

£5000 of which is the deposit needed to stand in the election and another £3000 to get a place in the free post mailing. Vital if we are to get the Green Party message in every house across our region.

This will mean that every voter in South Yorkshire will have the opportunity to vote for the Green Party AND receive information about what we stand for.

HELP US GIVE EVERYONE IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE THE CHANCE TO VOTE GREEN

The Green Party in South Yorkshire is one of our most successful. We have a very effective group of councillors on Sheffield City Council campaigning against the infamous programme of cutting down healthy trees by private contractor Amey.

We have parish councillors fighting fracking and HS2 in Rotherham and Doncaster and an active party making headway in Barnsley.

Central Government has agreed a deal with the leaders of the South Yorkshire Councils to devolve some powers in exchange for the election of a Mayor of Sheffield City Region.

We want to be sure that the Green Party’s message is heard loud and clear in this election and therefore we intend to stand a candidate.

But first we need to raise the required deposit.

Because (unlike other political parties) the Green Party receives no corporate backing, no union subscriptions and minimal donations from other sources, we really need YOUR help!

To stand a mayoral candidate we need to find a total of £8,000.

We appreciate it won’t be easy.

We know it’s a tough ask.

But what we want you to know is that we are also fighting important local elections in our region and, should we fail to raise the full amount necessary to stand an SCR mayor, we would like instead to put the money raised to help fund our local parties in their fight to get councillors elected.

Also, if we do manage to raise sufficient funding to get our candidate on the ballot paper and secure more than 5% of the vote, the deposit will be returned meaning it can then be re-distributed to the local parties across the South Yorkshire region. This means we can continue to push hard and get hard working Green Party candidates elected to serve on councils across our region.

Together we can do great things.

Small Print

**Please ensure you are on the electoral register - this is a requirement of donating to a political party. And you'll need to be on it to vote - register here if you're not.**

If for whatever reason we do not raise the full £5000 and we decide not to stand a candidate, the funds will be distributed to the local parties in South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) to help fund local election campaigns in these areas. All funds will be used to help South Yorkshire Green Party fight elections.
