In 2022 Stuart Jeffery was elected as the first ever Green councillor on Maidstone Borough Council (MBC). In 2023 we won another two seats from the Tories putting a Green team on the council for the first time in its history while depriving the Tories of their majority.
Cllr Stuart Jeffery: "We have done really well in recent years but in 2024 we can go MUCH further. All the seats on MBC are up for election in May 2024 and we want to be the biggest group on Maidstone Borough Council.
"This is Maidstone's chance to have a Green council and your chance to help achieve that."
Kimmy Milham continues: "We have identified nine wards (19 councillor seats) we can win. We can be the biggest group on the council meaning that Maidstone can really focus on both sustainability and supporting those in most need. There's so much to do, from having a sensible housing policy with the right type of homes in the right places, to tackling our gridlocked town, to sorting out the pollution in our rivers and air."
We have done well so far but we can go further. We MUST go further.
We can win seats all over the borough from Boxley to Marden and from Allington to Headcorn. This will put Greens in the heart of local government in Maidstone.
Please fund our campaign to get Stuart, Kimmy, Anne, Mick, Kelly, Stephen, Claire, Derek, Donna, Tom, Caroline, Ed, Rachel, Ciaran and others elected in May.
We urgently need funds for our election campaign - to pay for leaflets, "Vote Green" signs, and all the necessary kit involved in running a successful grassroots election campaign across - for the first time - the borough of Maidstone. Unlike other parties we refuse to rely on corporate donations and we won't be beholden to lobbyists.
We know times are tough, we don’t like to ask but we know it’s worth it, Maidstone is worth it. Please chip in whatever you can, and help us become the largest party on the Borough Council in these crucial elections on 2nd May 2024.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
P.S. Because we are a political party we are required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
