Aim

“Beckstein” grand piano: New home for a beautiful instrument.

What is "The Beckstein"...

The Bechstein Grand Piano in question - AKA "The Beckstein" - is a grand piano made in 1884 in Berlin. It has lived for the last 37 years at the home/concert space of the improvisor Mick Beck in Sheffield and has been played by countless pianists over the years – it is a beautiful instrument.

New home for a beautiful old instrument...

Unfortunately, Mick needs to find a new home for the instrument as he will no longer have the space for it to be kept in its current location. He has offered the piano to ame cic, the artist led organisation based at dai hall in Huddersfield for FREE! However, there is a problem, ame does not have the funds to pay for its safe removal and delivery to Huddersfield nor the necessary money to pay for tuning the piano once it is safely installed here in dai hall.

This is where you come in – we desperately need to raise the funds to enable us to move and tune the instrument for use at our space in Huddersfield and help fund a concert to celebrate in its new home. Any additional funds will be put toward the ame artist residency dedicated to facilitating exciting new artists and students to play and record with the "Beckstein" at dai hall. By contributing to this project, you will allow the "Beckstein" to live and breathe in a new home in Huddersfield.

What we need...

We are looking to raise a grand (£1000) for a grand. We have a number of items to offer and also, if you would just like to help us out then please donate what you can, we would of course be most grateful!
