A Fresh Start After Domestic Abuse

Aim

Needing support to secure safe housing before my university halls tenancy ends in September and I have nowhere permanent to go.

Hey friends :)

I'm a university student currently living in halls, with my tenancy ending on 9th September. I'm estranged from my adoptive parents due to a history of abuse, and unfortunately they know my current address and have continued to show up uninvited, which has left me feeling unsafe.

Earlier this year, I secured a tenancy for a new place that was due to begin in September. However, it was unexpectedly cancelled, leaving me without accommodation once my current tenancy ends.

I work part-time in fast food but due to a significant reduction in my hours, I have been receiving only one shift per week, which isn't enough to save for a deposit, moving costs, and rent. While I am trying to find alternative employment, this has been difficult at times due to my mental health, and I am currently receiving counselling support to help me manage this.

As an estranged student, I have applied for additional support through Student Finance, but this will not be available until the new academic year. Unfortunately I need to book and secure safe accommodation before then, as I cannot remain in my current halls after my tenancy ends.

Any donation no matter how small would help me move somewhere safe and stable while I continue my studies and work towards independence.
