We are on a mission to create a forever home for the families we support which they know will always be here to offer them care & support.

Building A Forever Home for Shine A Light

At Shine A Light, we walk beside children facing cancer and the families who love them. We offer emotional support, practical help, and a place to feel safe during the darkest of times. But right now, our charity faces an ongoing challenge: we don’t have a permanent home. 

During the eight years that we have been running we have had to move premises five times!  Every time a lease comes to an end we have had to move again and each time the families we support have had to re-learn where to find us!

We have spent so much time and resources having to research new premises,  relocate, decorate and furnish each new premises, which has taken precious time away from reaching and supporting more people in need. 

Now, we have a chance to change that.

We’re launching this campaign to raise funds for a forever home.  It is our dream and wish to create a dedicated centre where we can welcome families, run support programs, and grow our services without the fear of another move. A place where healing can happen, memories can be made, and light can shine no matter how dark things may feel.  

For several months we have been jumping through hoops to try and buy our forever home.  We've thoroughly assessed our savings, we've been through rounds of finance applications, and we have now had to agree a lease whilst we try and raise additional funds.

Our forever home allows the families we support to:

• Meet others who understand
• Access support services, play therapy and counselling
• Attend family activities
• Enjoy respite and well being sessions
• Hold celebrations and memory-making events
• Access practical help during treatment journeys
• Feel less alone

A home is much more than just a building — it’s where hope lives. With your help, we can make our permanent premises a reality and create a beautiful home from home for the families who need it most. 

Our forever home will have cosy meeting rooms, light and colourful play therapy spaces and bright and airy spaces for groups to run and fun to flow. It will also be home to our wonderful team of staff and volunteers with our offices, a community cafe and shop all on one premises.  

In order to do this the new premises we are taking over needs totally renovating...
