I’m running 27 miles for Alzheimer’s Society to honour my nan - please support to fund care, research & hope for families affected
Hello,
I am Oliver and I’m taking on a Marathon charity run to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society to honour my nan and her sister, who have both been affected by this devastating condition. Alzheimer’s doesn’t just impact those diagnosed - it affects whole families, changing everyday life in ways many don’t see. Running such a long distance will be a huge challenge for me, both mentally and physically, but it’s nothing compared to the daily struggles faced by people living with dementia. Every step I take will be for my nan and for all the families who need the vital support, research, and resources that the Alzheimer’s Society provides. The Run will take place on the 21st February 2026.
The route starts at Budleigh Salterton and runs through to Exmouth, passing through sandy bay, and then goes up to Topsham, followed by crossing The River Exe by footbridge. I will then run down The River Exe passing by the Turf Lock and through Starcross, Dawlish Warren, Dawlish and then finishing at Teignmouth by the Teignmouth Lighthouse.
All donations would be highly appreciated and will help fund people affected and give them the support they deserve. Anyone is more than welcome to join me on my run and i would love as many of you as possible to run with me from Holcombe Beach, along the Sea wall towards Teignmouth and through to the finish line ( The Teignmouth Lighthouse ).
My Nan (Maureen) and her sister (Pat) have both been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and has worsened over the past year. This has made me realise to always appreciate and take care of your loved ones, especially your elderly family members. I will be doing this run in honour of Nanna (Maureen) & Auntie Pat (Pat).
Thank you.
