Ultra Triathlon World Championships: Solvenia 2014

On Friday 22nd August, Slovenia will host the World Championship Ultra Triathlon. My name is Suraya Oliver and I aim to take the title of World Champion with your help and support.  At this year's competition I will be the only participant from UK, let us bring the title home!

In the past, I have been Deca Ultra Triathlon World Champion 2004, Quintuple Ultra Triathlon World Champion 2005 and former European Ultra Triathlon Champion 2006. I have participated in Slovenia twice before, but as the cycle is so brutal, twice I have missed the cut off. This time, with the right preparation and backing, we can nail this race and bring the title to Britain.

There is a real lack of women competing in the sport, and in 2013 I was the only woman in the world to participate in the Double Deca Ultra Triathlon in Mexico. Unfortunately things didn't exactly go to plan and resulted in my book 'Diary of a Double Deca Disaster', due to be re-released soon. After a disasterous exit, that I am still paying for, I ceased training and expanded my waistline somewhat . I now work to earn a simple living, making entry to future races an impossibility without outside support.

On Friday 30th May Enduroman hosted their triple Ultra Triathlon in Avon Tyrrell, Hampshire. 15 participants started and 10 completed the event within the 60 hour time limit. Not one single woman participated. With your support, I can help to inspire and encourage more women to compete in the sport and push themselves to be their best.

What is an Ultra Triathlon?

The Ultra Triathlon World Championships is made up of three stages:

7.6km swim, followed by a 360km cycle and finally a 84.4km run.

Competiting this year will be 58 men and 7 women from 19 different countries.

Why am I Crowdfunding?

The funding will cover cost of flights, bike carriage, entry fees, accommodation and go towards the cost of training prior to the World Championships in August.

This is an 'all or nothing' funding platform, so we need to reach our target or no money will be taken.

I hope that we can take the World Championships with you all behind me, joining me every inch of the way!
