Aim

To raise funds for and awareness of a temporary exhibition at UCL's Institute of Archaeology developed by MA Museum Studies students on WWI.

A team of twenty-nine students on the '13-'14 MA in Museum Studies at UCL are developing a temporary exhibition in the Leventis Gallery on the ground floor of UCL's own Institute of Archaeology! Entitled “Voices of War: UCL in World War I”, it will present the diverse actions and stories of students at UCL during World War I and will be installed by May 2014. Through this exhibition, we aim to bridge the gap between “then” and “now” and invite current UCL students to form closer associations with the past by conveying how World War I affected the student population involved not only on the front line but also in art, science, and politics.

Alongside the exhibition, a private launch party in the exhibition gallery and an evening adult event at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre based on the links between technology and warfare and the ethical issues they raise will be held in May.

To raise funds for and awareness of the project, we have hosted a bake sale at the Institute of Archaeology on the 5th March, and we will be tackling a museum walk on the 23rd March to 14 museums in Central London. Contributions will be used to promote the visibility and impact of the overall project.

We hope you will help us create a more far-reaching and exciting exhibition!
