Aim

Training 100 teachers in India impacting on thousands of children's education.

What is the project?

Here is a chance to help make a difference to the people and their lives in India. In August 2014, I will be venturing out to Rajpura, in the state of Pubjab, in North India as a volunteer on the Limited Resources Teacher Training Programme, in partnership with STiR Education. Following success in Uganda and Tanzania, LRTT will be expanding to eight countries this summer, India being one of them. The aim of the project is to provide training to teachers in challenging contexts in order to drive sustainable development in some of the poorest communities in the world. 

Along with other qualified teachers from the Teach First Leadership Programme, we will be running workshops to train up to 100 local teachers. With some class sizes over 50 students, we will be impacting on the lessons and lives of thousands of local children.

What do i need to raise?

I need to raise £1050 in order to do the project. All money raised goes towards the running of the programme, including providing expenses for the Indian teachers, allowing teachers from all over the country to travel to the workshops.

What am i doing to raise the money?

On Sunday 18th May, myself, my friends and family will be taking part in a 20 and 60 mile Cycling Sportive in Pontefract ,so please support them and me by donating. On Sunday 1st June I will be running the Great Midlands Fun Run, an 8.5 mile run (not so fun!) around Sutton Coldfield with my good friends Emma and Becky. I will also be fund raising in other ways  such as bake sales, washing cars, at my school's Summer Fair on 14th June and any other opportunities that come alone. I have already raised money but i need your support to raise the remaining amount.
