Aim

Raising funds for 97+ to perform at Edinburgh Fringe August 14th - 19th at TheSpaceUK Venue On the Mile Venue 39.

97+ is based on the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster where severe injuries led to 97 lives lost. Set in 2012, Hillsborough Survivors John and Steve each deal with the trauma they suffered as young boys, now as middle-aged men. John bottles up his emotions and only exposes them to his wife, Liz, as he regularly suffers from night terrors but avoids seeking treatment from the doctors. As opposed to Steve, who lives alone but seeks help from the hospital or the vodka bottle as his only support mechanisms. Despite countless setbacks, the Hillsborough Survivors continue their fight for justice. Written and Directed by Edge Hill University Graduate Tom Cain, brought to you by Tom Cain Theatre. 97+ was written in collaboration with the Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance, a charity set up by survivors to help other survivors undergo Hillsborough Transformational Recovery Model Therapy. 97+ aims to educate audiences on the TRUTH of Hillsborough, and raise awareness that there are still those survivors suffering from their trauma and need support.

After the success of my debut show we have performed two different editions of 97+ five times. This includes a festival version and also a high schools only edition. Throughout all these shows I have had to self-fund, but the expensive fees for Edinburgh Fringe means I am now asking for your help to give me somewhat of a budget towards my press and marketing campaign, to get audiences in to watch my show. There are thousands of shows every year at Fringe, I am confident in the quality of the show I just need funding towards advertisement costs to get its audience. However, I am well aware times are tough at the moment with a cost of living crisis that everyone is going through, so if you can’t spare anything please just share my posts across all socials @tomcaintheatre to help promote my play. This costs nothing and goes a big way in helping gain an audience for my show, you never know who on your followers would be up in Edinburgh 14th – 20th August looking to see a show.

Your donation would be supporting Tom Cain Theatre company, a working class, Liverpool based theatre company performing new writing of 97+ in their biggest performance yet.

Thank you for taking the time to read our Crowdfunder,

Tom
