Who are we?
We are a local village cricket club on the border of Derbyshire/Staffordshire.
Formed in 1872, we had our 150 years anniversary 2/3 years ago.
We run 5 seniors teams in the Derbyshire/Lichfield cricket leagues and have a very active and progressive junior section included 6 junior teams.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We were very successful a few years ago with raising a large amount of money towards new changing rooms at the cricket club which meant the club were able to continue to compete in Division 2 of the Derbyshire cricket league.
The 1st team have now been promoted to Division 1 which means we need to make further improvements.
These include a new Scorers area and Umpires Room.
We are also entering a girls junior team next year and need a changing area for them separate from the boys. This will mean a much higher and more diverse group of people using the club. Girls cricket is getting more and more popular and as a community club we would like to offer the same facilities to all!
The old facilities are either too small or falling down so these enhancements will further improve the club!
How we’ll spend the money raised
We basically need funds for 4 separate items.
1. A new scorers area to replace the old one which fell down at the end of last season.
2. A larger umpires changing room, the current one is too small and we need to comply with League size regulations.
3. Two new sight screens as the current ones need to be larger. (these are to be funded by the club separ3ately ).
4. As we are entering a girls team/mixed team for the first time we will need an area for them to get changed. This will increase the number of participants at the club.
The plan is to have a new building which will incorporate a new scorers area and also umpires room and girls changing room. This will have bifold doors at the front and could also be used for an additional bar area when we run events.
The number of girls using the club has gone higher and higher and for the first time next season we will have a girls and mixed teams at junior cricket.
Girls need there own area to get changed rather than having to use the toilets.
The whole community could use this and we will be taking bookings for events very soon.
We have submitted plans to the council and are just waiting for final sign off.
Community impact
The cricket club is an integral part of the community of Tutbury and Hatton and is very busy most days.
The cricket club gives a place for people from all age groups a chance to play an active team sport in a safe environment and more importantly have fun!
We have a large number of girls in All Stars and for the first time we will run a girls/mixed team at under 11 and will need additional space for them to be changed.
We are a very busy social club and run many events, the club is the real heartbeat of the community,
We have a real diverse group using the club on a week to week bases and have many volunteers helping out,
We have created safe and fun place for people to enjoy and express themselves.
There really isn't a better place to come down and watch some cricket,
The Juniors have been very successful over recent years and we have gone from a junior section running just 2 teams to 6 and they have won titles and cups from under 11 right through to under 17.
Many of the juniors represent their County teams!
We have noticed a large increase in the number of children playing and feel they deserve some better facilities ,
Cricket is one sport where kids from all ages can mix together and learn off each other. Boys and girls numbers are really high and we want to continue the good work we have done over recent years!
We have over 200 players from all ages playing on a weekly bases.
Numbers should increase with the addition of a girls/mixed teams.
we have made some huge improvements to the club in recent years including new nets and changing rooms!
But we don't want to stop making things better,
