Norton Sports Charity cricket nets

Aim: We are raising money to replace the worn-out cricket nets at Norton.

Who are we?

Norton Sports Charity, in conjunction with Norton Cricket Club, is raising money to replace our outdoor cricket nets and refurbish our indoor cricket nets at our site on Station Road.

We provide the facilities to allow people to enjoy cricket and use it to help them develop key skills in the sport plus enjoy the many additional benefits of taking part in team sport.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The current nets, which are over twenty years old, are showing significant wear and tear, and without upgrading them, we won’t be able to offer the high-standard, safe practice environment our players deserve. With your help, we can provide:

• Safe, high-quality facilities: New and refurbished nets that offer protection and allow realistic match-like training conditions.
• Opportunities for all: Norton Cricket Club supports 5 junior boys' teams, 3 junior girls' teams, a ladies' team, and 5 men's teams—these nets are crucial to their development and enjoyment of cricket and the chance to identify some great new cricketers and support them as they progress.
• Facilities suitable for players of all ages and abilities to attract more cricketers to Norton thereby helping to improve the mental and physical health of local people.
• A community hub: The nets aren’t just for Norton Cricket Club members—they are used by other clubs who don't have indoor facilities, local schools, university students, and others in the region. Replacing them will benefit the entire community.

How we'll spend the money raised

Money raised will go towards the costs of refurbishing the all-weather cricket nets and improvements to the indoor nets with a new playing surface and partial replacement of the roof to prevent leaks. Overall the combined project has a value of over £100,000. Norton Sports Charity has already raised some money towards the project and this, together with planned grant funding, will be used to improve the facility in 2025. If we are fortunate enough to raise above the required amount, any additional funds would be used to improve other cricket facilities on site.
