Who are we?
Widnes CC prides itself on being an all inclusive club for people of all ages and abilities and has done since it started playing cricket at the Beaconsfield Road ground since 1865.
An ECB Clubmark club participating in all the latest initiatives such as All Start (5-8yrs) for the 2025 season means you can join the club at 5 years of age and play until you retire.
New players are always welcome and we can accommodate any ability.
Widnes prides itself on being able to cater for all needs and abilities and boasts men, women and kids teams.
Again in 2024 Widnes has been chosen to host representative fixtures see our social media platforms for information.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Due to our wonderful English weather, we are constantly suffering with flooding on the pitch and regrettably having to cancel play.
We desperately need an effective drainage system. This will extend the life and enhance the quality of our playing surface by significantly reducing the chances of waterlogging and the subsequent soil compaction that occurs.
The English Sports Council (“Sport England”) has agreed to 'award' National Lottery Funding to WIDNES CRICKET CLUB at a value of £7,500.
This 'Award' is conditional upon us matching the figure and raising £7,500 from other supporters through a Crowdfunder campaign.
The estimated total project cost is £19,716
How we’ll spend the money raised
All money raised will be used to install a new drainage system and a pumping station at the bottom end of the club's ground that is prone to flooding.
Community impact
The club is diverse, inclusive and community orientated – and our dedicated team and members always go the extra mile.
The Club is focused on providing the very best facilities and forging close community links in order to encourage local youngsters to get involved in the sport of cricket and to represent the Club at the highest levels possible.
