Perranporth Rugby club grant request information:
The club was established in 1962 and has had a roller coaster ride since that time. Our youth section was established in 2005 with one team and now boasts teams in all age groups from micros to u16s.The 2017/18 season also saw us start a girls section for girls aged in school years 7 and above.
We are truly One Club from our senior team, The Brewers, to the Micros (under 5s)
ONE CLUB - 21 TEAMS
We consider ourselves a social & family friendly club and are proud to be accredited by the RFU. We always welcome new players in EVERY team. Although there are a couple of teams that would benefit from a boost of players.
We follow the rules of age grade rugby set down by the RFU. This introduces rugby skills at different stages starting with tag rugby.
We promote Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. All good life skills!
We have outgrown our current clubhouse and submitted plans for a new build.
We have an amazing group of people who work for the club. Giving up their time to inspire the next generation of rugby enthusiasts.
We are really proud to announce that we are 1 of 4 women’s rugby hubs in Cornwall
In a year or so, we are going to have women’s rugby team, which has been grown, right here, at the Perranporth club.
The club has a great following on its social media (Facebook). We are very lucky that local businesses help us with the day to day running costs of club through sponsorships.
Our aim and objectives are to provide a space that everyone feels welcome to come and enjoy training and playing, or watching from the sidelines, to enjoy this beautiful sport that can often be overlooked. We want to be able to provide everyone who trains, plays or visits the club the same opportunities, amenities and experiences. We want everyone to feel welcome and that they are part of a club, a community, a family in its own right.
The Request from us is to help us upgrade/ renovate our club. The total cost of the project is approx. £250,000. This includes transforming the clubhouse from 2 changing rooms/ showers and a bar, to 4 changing rooms to accommodate the upcoming ladies teams and to build the clubhouse up to have a bigger social area for our members/ players/ local community who visit. The club keeps expanding which is amazing.
As part of this build we need to put either a stairlift, or lift into the design to accommodate all ages and abilities who visit our club.
The clubhouse has had no work since the 80’s when it was built. I have attached pictures below for you to see the current condition. Whilst we are proud of our club. We are more than aware it needs work, The windows and doors all let cold air in, meaning we are also not as eco friendly as we would like to be. The showers have never been upgraded. I think the simplest way to describe us, evident in the photos below, is that we have outgrown our current building, We store cleaning products in the disabled toilets. The refs changing room looks like a storage cupboard. Nothing has been brought up to date
We are very lucky in our club to have many adult players with skills in many trades. These members will be doing the work on the club, where possible and are offering their time at reduced cost, or even free in some instances.

How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
