We are raising money for Dartmouth Caring who provided wonderful support to Craig after his diagnosis of mesothelioma.
We are raising funds in memory of Craig Akehurst. Craig was sadly diagnosed with mesothelioma in March 2021, mesothelioma is a particularly b*stard type of cancer for which there is currently no cure.
Following his diagnosis he was referred to Dartmouth Caring who provide at home support for those with cancer.
Dartmouth Caring is a charity that works around the Dartmouth area and is fully funded through donations and grants. Andie Day is a specialist nurse and set up the charity after recognising that there was a lack of service for patients who were not poorly enough for hospice care and for those who did not want hospice care. Dartmouth Caring provides support at home with the clinical support from local GPs. Craig was referred to Dartmouth Caring following his diagnosis and they provided fantastic support, were always kind and caring and they truly care about their patients and their needs.
Sadly Craig passed away on 26th July 2021 after a short stay in hospital following a diagnosis of septicemia and later contracted pneumonia. Even after his passing Dartmouth Caring have continued to support the family and we will always be grateful for the service and care they provide. Craig always spoke very highly of Andie and her team and we want to help support them and the invaluable work they do in the local community.
