Tamta is fundraising for
Young Minds Trust
Charity No. 1016968

I will be participating in a half marathon and white collar boxing match to try and raise money for Young Minds.
I may have become unhinged over the last year and gone rogue and committed myself to a half marathon (17th October) and a white-collar boxing match (4th November) within three weeks of one another. Whilst I enjoy working out, I can’t claim to a) be a natural runner, b) revel in the idea of someone repeatedly trying to punch me. However, I am keen to undergo these challenges to test my mental and physical resilience and raise money for a noble cause.
Mental health is something I feel really passionately about, having seen it affect those closest to me in a time where mental health support was neither readily accessible nor available.
Whilst it’s been amazing to witness mental health increasingly becoming at the forefront of mainstream discussions, we continue to experience a mental health crisis. Especially in the wake of the pandemic lockdowns.
However, we have an opportunity to make a real impact and facilitate positive change, particularly with the younger generations. For this reason, I have chosen to participate in these events to raise money in aid of Young Minds.
For anyone interested in tracking my journey and progress towards completing these events, I have set up an Instagram account to post regular updates and training targets - @tamtagrindsforyoungminds.
Each week I will outline my objectives and offer updates on how I’m fairing; any week I fail to achieve my training targets, I will donate £10 to the fundraiser. As well as maybe a forfeit each week (TBC - but hopefully not needed)
Also if anyone was keen to watch the match, I’ll have more information on tickets towards September so watch this space.
