Who are we?
The Seasiders are the largest community sports club in Felixstowe, providing sporting opportunities for all as well as semi-professional football
Why are we crowdfunding?
Our existing floodlights are metal halide and are reaching the end of their life. They are inefficient, are expensive to run and parts are becoming very difficult to replace. The lamps deteriorate over time, reducing the effectiveness and causing light spillage.
We want to retrofit our existing floodlight columns with new LED lamps. These lamps reduce our energy consumption, are much more environmentally friendly and reduce light spillage by directing the light much better. Replacement parts are easily available at a low cost.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We can apply for 70% of the cost of upgrading to LED lights through a special FA funding pot specifically for this kind of project.
We were hoping to cover the remaining costs from a local authority grant, but we have been unsuccessful… leaving a gap in funding.
Community impact
Our club continues to grow and improve sporting provision in our town, as well as putting Felixstowe on the map thanks to our teams successes. Thousands of people pass through the gates of the Martello Ground every week to participate or spectate in the junior boys and girls teams, football & education programme and senior sides such as the first team and Ipswich Town Women. By improving our floodlighting we’ll help to maintain the upward momentum of the whole club, protecting its future for generations to come and also having a real positive impact on the environment and our local community.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
